Also known as CooperVillar, Cunavir is centrally located in the Villa Rica District in the region of Pasco.
They are producers of coffee by tradition since the 1960s.
Its 230 members are mostly traditional, third-generation growers.
Some of its members belong to native communities of the Yanesha ethnic group, maintaining their cultural traditions.
Others are from the Andean areas of Peru, who came primarily to harvest coffee and eventually own their own coffee farms.
Many of the farms have sustainable certifications, including organic, Fair Trade, and Café Practices.
Cunavir is currently in the process of becoming Rain Forest Alliance certified.
On average, 3.5 ha of coffee is cultivated per farmer at 1,400-1,800 masl.
The varieties are catimor, caturra, typica and bourbon.
70% of the crop is processed at Cunavir’s mill, with proper fermentation and responsible management.
The coffee is dried using guardiolas (machine drying) at a maximum heat of 45 degrees Celsius.
