French Press Manual Coffee Maker
A French press, also known as a press pot or plunger pot, is a popular coffee brewing device. Patented in 1929 by Italian designer Attilio Calimani, it has roots in France from the early 19th century. Its design features a cylindrical glass or stainless steel carafe and a plunger with a metal or nylon mesh filter. This method immerses coarse coffee grounds in hot water, then separates them by pressing the plunger down. Over the years, the French press gained fame for producing rich, full-bodied coffee. Easy to use, it remains a favourite for coffee enthusiasts worldwide (Zhong, 2018).
